Startup Challenge & AI Learning Model (SCALE)

Many VET students struggle with motivation due to theoretical tasks disconnected from real industry problems. At the same time, school-industry cooperation often lacks structure, and AI is used without clear guidance.

The Startup Challenge and AI Learning Model project solves this by creating a practical, scalable challenge-based learning framework. It connects VET schools with companies, embeds real challenges into the curriculum, and guides the responsible use of AI. European cooperation ensures this model is transferable, boosting students’ entrepreneurial skills and making VET education more relevant across Europe.

Objectives:
The project aims to increase motivation and entrepreneurial competences of VET students through a structured challengebased learning model. It addresses two key problems: weak cooperation between schools and industry, and the absence of a clear, transferable challenge model in vocational education. Artificial intelligence is integrated as a support tool for research, idea development and reflection, with clear boundaries and responsible use guidelines.

Activities:
The project will design a structured Startup Challenge model defining roles, cycle stages, assessment and industry involvement. A practical toolkit will support teachers and students. One aligned challenge cycle will be implemented in three countries using shared rubrics and standards, ending with a European online showcase. Risks include uneven industry engagement and misuse of AI, addressed through mentor training and clear AI guidelines.

Expected results:
The project will deliver a validated challenge learning model and an open-access toolkit for VET schools. Three national challenge cycles will involve at least 60 students and industry partners. Expected results include increased student motivation, stronger entrepreneurial competences and improved school–industry cooperation. A sustainability plan will support continued annual implementation beyond the project period.
