New Toolkit Launched to Drive Inclusive International Mobility
The IMVET project team is glad to announce the launch of the IMVET Inclusive Mobility Toolkit. This new resource is designed to help vocational education and training (VET) institutions ensure that international internships and study visits are accessible to learners with disabilities.
While traveling abroad for study or work can transform a student’s career and independence, many learners with special needs still face barriers to participation. The IMVET project was created to break down these walls by sharing knowledge and best practices for VET schools staff members and thus supporting inclusive mobilities for everyone.
Helen Johanson, Head of the Student Support Center at VOCO, highlights the importance of this initiative:”Involving students with special needs in Erasmus+ mobilities is essential because it levels the playing field. Mobility experiences build a level of confidence and independence that a traditional classroom cannot provide. When we remove barriers, we show students that their disabilities do not define their potential or their future in the labour market or in life generally.”
The published toolkit provides staff with two essential resources to turn inclusive goals into reality. The self-assessment tool is a downloadable check-up that helps schools evaluate their current mobility programmes and identify areas for improvement. Secondly, practical guidelines have been developed for schools. These includes “how-to” guide featuring templates, checklists, and best practices from initial Preparation and Pre-Departure to support During Mobility and the Post-Mobility transition.
The IMVET Toolkit helps schools move from “wanting” to be inclusive to “being” inclusive.
