Leadership for Volunteer Coordinators  

Leading people and teams is a universal skill in many spheres of work. Would you like to develop your communication and teamwork skills, as well as your skills in process planning and performance evaluation? In addition, learn about volunteer coordination techniques and practical tips from the European Culture Capital.  If so, this course is for you.

The course is intended for business administrators and managers,  tourism or commerce  students (level 4 and 5 )  and it will be held in the English language.

Lasting ten days, in Leadership for Volunteer Coordinators course you learn:

  • principles for voluntary work
  • main steps for process planning, implementation and evaluation 
  • communication skills 
  • teambuilding, motivation and reflection 
  • practical tools and tips for team management
  • Plus enhance your English language skills by studying with international students.

The entire course is structured using the active learning method and practical hands-on tasks that are based on volunteers´ work practice and Volugram project with Culture Capitals 2024.

The training also includes study visits to culture and youth organisations, “Meet and Greet” event and cultural activities in European Culture Capital Tartu 2024.

The participation in the program could be financed by Erasmus+ programme as mobility (VET learners traineeships in vocational institutions abroad).

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of voluntary work, including motivations and benefits for both volunteers and organisations
  • Plan volunteer processes, including the stages of planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Apply practical management tools
  • Enhance leadership and communication skills, including improvement of English proficiency
  • Gain insights from European Cultural practices

Mariliis Maremäe is an educator in entrepreneurship and project management at VOCO. With extensive experience in volunteer work, Mariliis has successfully managed volunteer teams for prominent international events and conferences, including Latitude59. Her expertise played a pivotal role in developing this course and its materials as part of the Erasmus+ project VOLUGRAM.

Mariliis brings a unique blend of practical experience and theoretical knowledge to her teaching. She is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and engaging course, equipping participants with the diverse skills and competencies required for effective volunteer management.

The program costs 360€ per student and it includes:

  • Ten days training at our college and study visit(s) to a business company
  • School lunches
  • Welcome dinner and farewell snacks
  • Cultural activities – city sightseeing and culture programme in Tartu

The course fee can be financed by Erasmus+ programme as mobility (VET learners traineeships in vocational institutions abroad).

In addition we recommend reasonable accommodation  in our student hotel (twin rooms or apartment type rooms where there is also a kitchenette) that situates conveniently at the school campus.  One night in a twin room costs about 30 EUR (breakfast included).
