Professionalisation of teachers and mentors in Vocational Education to realise Powerful Transformative Learning Environments for a Sustainable Transition
The ProVEST (Professionalisation of Teachers and Mentors in Vocational Education to Realise Powerful Transformative Learning Environments for a Sustainable Transition) project addresses the growing need for high-quality professional development in Vocational Education and Training (VET).
In recent years, European policies have increasingly emphasized the critical role of teachers and mentors in ensuring effective vocational education as a driver for change. The Riga Conclusions and the ET2020 working group on VET have highlighted the importance of professionalisation opportunities in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. Additionally, the European Green Deal calls for the development of a European sustainability competence framework to foster learning on environmental sustainability, reinforcing the essential role of VET in equipping individuals with sustainable skills.
To strengthen the competences of both teachers and mentors in vocational learning, ProVEST aims to develop a professional development program that:
- Brings together schools and companies at both local and international levels
- Covers various disciplines, innovative learning, and teaching technologies
- Encourages the formation of extended teams, where teachers and mentors collaborate across different professional VET roles
- Creates powerful transformative learning environments for VET students
The project will test the professional development program through an extended team model, supported by a cross-national masterclass. By bridging the gap between education and industry, ProVEST will empower VET educators to shape transformative and sustainable learning environments, preparing students with the skills needed for a greener and more dynamic future.
