Implementation of the Choice of Profession Curriculum in Tartu VEC

Short description:
The aim of the project is to support young people with low educational attainment and those at risk, to continue their education and making a career choice or to become ready for the labour market beyond primary school.
The target groups of the project are young people with a low level of education, who need additional training or guidance to make a career choice, young people who have dropped out of education, young people with special needs, young people with a foreign background and young people who need more time to adapt to vocational training.

Activities:
The implementation of the project will increase young people’s awareness of learning opportunities and the school’s readiness to implement VET in a sustainable way.  During the project, 85 apprenticeship places will be created and at least 50% of the young people who have completed their studies will be ready to continue their vocational training or enter the labour market.

Results:
As a result of the project, the cooperation of the Tartu VET College with other vocational schools and partners will increase, allowing more suitable options for young people. The project will continuously develop and update curricula and exchange experiences with other schools to increase the proportion of students who have completed the choice of profession curricula to go on to vocational training or enter the labour market. The implementation of the  curricula contributes to the strategic goal of the Estonian Lifelong Learning Strategy 2020 through the creation of high quality learning opportunities with a wide range of options, which will increase the number of people with professional qualifications and participation in lifelong learning as a whole by creating equal opportunities.
